MY JUL-AUG’12 BEAUTY BUYS

My July/August Beauty Stash that includes stuff from Maybelline, Urban Decay, Laura Mercier, The Face Shop, Clio & Illamasqua

How did I end up with so much stuff? Hmm, let me see… the story goes like this:

The Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette was a birthday gift I had desired & chose. So was the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, which I had used Sephora vouchers (a thoughtful birthday gift from 2 of my gfs) to purchase.

There was a sale at The Face Shop, & a girlfriend who was a member wanted to check it out. In the end, I was the one who walked out with 2 purchases 😦  And one fine day, I ended up at Sasa and as there was a promotion going on for Maybelline, I decided to purchase their new BB stick (which, unfortunately, sucks for me) & then along with a cute face mask in a “bag” packaging, a box of eye masks & a bottle of my favorite Evian spray.

My makeup artist angels highly recommended this professional brand Illamasqua & I decided to buy 2 of their products which were on sale online. And I continue to be besotted with Clio eyeliners & went to purchase the nude colored one, making it the 5th Clio eyeliner I own so far.

No, I don’t think I can stop buying more makeup because it’s just impossible & I get depressed even thinking about it. At least I do wear & use makeup, so there are essential stuff that gets cleaned out most of the time, like face powder, concealers & eyebrow pencils. And because I like to try new makeup, I do end up with different brands all the time.

The only thing I am loyal to is the brands of the cotton wool I use for my face. One’s from Sasa and the other’s from Daiso – which I will touch upon in a later post 😉

Best Eyeliner of 2012: CLIO

First spotted the CLIO eyeliners at Junction 10 Watsons, & was raving to my boyfriend how waterproof they were after I tried a few colors on my hand & couldn’t rub them off. I couldn’t stop thinking about them & was so tempted to buy 1 – but after looking everywhere at all the convenient Watsons I passed by, it was either they didn’t carry the brand or there weren’t any stocks left 😦

So it was after 3 months that I finally returned to the same Watsons at Junction 10 where I first saw the products… & swiftly bought 4 shades 😀 I had wanted the blue because it was a different blue from the other blue liners I had, then I was attracted by how shiny the silver was, & then I saw the black… & then the purple! I could only stop myself from buying the brown 😦

I have to say these are my current favourite brand of eyeliners – not only do each liner come with a sharpener (at the bottom of the liner) for easy access, the colours are rich & they are super waterproof – which means they didn’t smudge at all. But because I have oily eyelids, the bottom lines started to smudge after half a day. Still, they have the best staying power of all the liners I own 😛

Love the look I did based on the packaging look 😀 I’m SO SOLD!

BANDI NAIL LAUNCH

Attended the launch of Bandi in Singapore at Park Hotel Clarke Quay today, hosted by the team from Evance. Claiming to be the No. 1 Professional Nail Care Brand in Korea, the name ‘Bandi’ originates from the word ‘Bandibul’, which actually means FIREFLIES in Korean. Like fireflies, the brand aspires to be “an environmentally friendly brand that captures the beautiful colours of nature” and through its product quality and designs, “stays true to its values to produce nail products that are not hazardous to human or ecology”.

The Korean team flew in specially to present the brand and its comprehensive range of nail products, ranging from their COLORS line (normal nail lacquer) to their GELIQUE line (soft gel like Gelish) to NAILCURE (nailcare), and more. We also got to watch about 3 live demonstrations of nail art with GELIQUE and their nail stickers.

Don’t you just love getting goodie bags? 😀 Having watched the presentations and all, I have a sudden inspiration to return to my DIY nail days where I get creative with nail stickers. Unfortunately, I have become a tad lazy these days and resort to either manicures or full nail stickers 😛 But I’m definitely looking forward to buying their nail stickers when they launch officially in June… Apparently, they come up with trendy seasonal stickers 4 times a year in conjunction with their nail colours 🙂 🙂 🙂

One interesting point that came up during the launch was when the Korean team questioned what are the favourite colours of local women and the answers were RED, PINK and any “natural” colours. Well, I guess the majority of Singaporean women are not that adventurous enough to try fashion colours because they don’t know how to. Fortunately, I’m not one of them – I love to try colours and I am crazy about animal prints. I know of girlfriends who love pastel colours (that is the IN thing for Korea now), and those who love neon colours so I’m always encouraging people around me to open up and embrace their inner self… The world needs less criticism & more encouragement!

It’s really amazing to know how many colours the brand owns and I’m hoping their entry into the market will make a big difference in nail ethics, especially when there are so many nail salons out there who don’t exactly think of your nails’ health when they are making $$$ out of you… Bandi seems to be a brand who truly cares so we shall see!

p/s. Not sure of the pricing or where they are available yet in Singapore~
